#002 Nynäshamn

STATS:
Distance: 56.7km
Height: 471m
Style: Great gravel riding from Stockholm to Nynäshamn.

Info:
A varied route to Nynäshamn which is definitely worth the effort. Beginning in Farsta Strand you quickly leave the city and start into the country side. Horse stables and open fields turn into deep forests and forgotten paths. Once in Nynäshamn take the Pendaltåg back to Stockholm. This route has a mix of gravel surfaces so we recommend at least 40mm tyres. Overall excellent gravel riding and a great day out.

  1. I rode this tour today and it was a real nice trip. You have managed to piece together really fun and interesting roads. The few sections of asphalt are short so it’s not possible to use them to rest so the route is quite demanding and one needs to use full speed and momentum much of the time. The singletrack part after Ösmo was fast and easy, i only had to dismount for about 50 metres or such. Good work!

    1. Hej Markus, glad you enjoyed the route. I love the section from Tungelsta to Segersäng. Glad the single track is still ride-able.

  2. Rode the route yesterday. The first part from Ösmo is on very nice gravel, but the single track is a disaster. Forest machines, horse riders and wild hogs have done their best to ruin the first part of the track. Very wet, muddy and over grown. The second halv was more dry but very overgrown. Some nice guy has marked the route with blue ribbons, otherwise it would not be hard to loose ones way. Only the last 200 m was something that could be called a rideable single track. I walked most of the track and it was a struggle. I am sure there is someone that can manage the terrain, but the section is too grueling to be included in a gravel route.

    1. Hej Björn,

The forest consently changes and we never know what is going to happen next. I rode the route in the early summer and for the same stretch it was 99% rideable.
Interesting that it is in such bad condition now. But there is good news. Since the route was originally design there has been a new gravel road cut through the forest.
We are going to alter the route to use this section instead.
      Thank you for the feedback.

  3. Rode the route on September 25th 2022 and just a small warning: around “Strömslund” on the map, or after ~50.2 km I encountered an electric fence right across the road. Very hard to see the thin wires and I had to emergency break both on my way into the pasture and out (even though I was prepared on the way out). The wires are about 60 cm above ground.

Other than that, I enjoyed the route! Some very bumpy sandy part, and some rocky and rooty uphill singletrack where I had to dismount (42 mm Pathfinder pro).

    1. Hej Erik,

      Thank you for the update.
We are going to change the route so bypass the single track section.
Thank you for your feed back.

      Regards

      Michael

    1. Hej Mattias,

      Thank you for the suggestion.
We are about to change the route to follow your gravel roads.
The single track link is now destroyed so we need to detour.

      Thank you again

      Michael
